This past Friday, February 25th, we headed one more time for our traditional field trip to a site of national pride and history: The Archaeological Park of Copan Ruins. We were fortunate enough to accompany the sixty three students, to the ruins and be part of one of their most memorable moments.
As part of the trip, we all met at 5:30 A.M. at our school. We could feel the excitement of the journey. Parents were waving good bye and our journey began. It was a long trip ,but their joy was overwhelmed when seeing the sign with the name of the hotel. The first activities began in the grassy field located within the premises of the hotel, where some students played ball while others enjoyed the fresh water from the pool.
The next day's adventure began with a visit to the Archaeological Park of Copán Ruins, where students had the pertinence to see Mayan outstanding architecture, took pictures and asked queries to the guide. They received information enhancing, in real settings, what had been taught within the classroom. There was a diverse amount of data explained on ethnicity, chemistry, medicine, politics and economy and many other details that built a more clear and kingly about our background.
Then we went to the museum where they took a numberless amount of pictures. Getting to the hotel the students had a chance to refresh themselves at the pool or play football,
Students at the end of the day made a reflection and wrote in their journals, answering also, the guideline created in their Spanish Social Studies class. Then we went to the Macaw Bird Park, also known as the Mountain of the Macaws, to find different species of birds that exist in our country, some of which are endangered. The children enjoyed the hold in your arms, shoulders and head. In the evening we had dinner under the moonlight, in beautifully decorated tables, as we celebrate the birthday of Laura, Ricardo and Stephanie with a surprise party.
Then we enjoyed dancing at the rhythm of modern music, due to the rain we couldn't have our roasted marshmallow bonfire, but we had a beautiful time sharing our last night together. On Sunday we returned tired but happy because of our great learning and sharing experience.
The Educational Tour to Copan left us many experiences and memories for a lifetime. Teachers had the pleasant opportunity to share something new and beautiful with them. Leaving the classroom for a field trip places the kids in a different social environment. They encounter a new set of enriching and growth experiences that will remain forever in their lives.
Thank you all .
