Welcome Back Morning
DelCampo International School welcomes back parents in a meeting to share information about the new school year. Teachers prepare presentations which include a curriculum description, school goals, school policies, and many other aspects of the new school year that are of parental concern.

September

Independence Day
Throughout the month of September, beginning with a solemn ceremony, elementary students participate in various activities such as the Honduran Independence Day Program. The program includes skits, band and drum performances, and typical dances and songs. The program is a major school event which draws attention to the true meaning of the holiday. The ceremony begins with the Honduran flag being raised by the seniors, while students and spectators sing the National Anthem. It is a patriotic, flag-waving, blue and white celebration of Honduras.

November
Cultures of the World Celebration
The Cultures of the World Festival is another big elementary school event. It is a performance based activity tied to the Social Studies curriculum. One of the main goals of the festival is to encourage students to respect diversity and learn about various races and cultures. Students research a country and serve as that country´s representative in a school wide parade. Traditional dance, music, theater, sumptuous traditional foods and drinks are all part of the experience.

December
Christmas Celebration
Christmas is one of the favorite school celebrations. It is a time for beloved traditions that are honored year after year. It is also a time of hope and joy, and a way to demonstrate love for one another. In the weeks leading up to Christmas classrooms are decorated, greeting cards sent out among the students, carols sung, and Christmas trees installed in school. Children delight in anticipation of a visit from Santa Claus. Before leaving for the semester break parents are invited to an assembly where students perform dances and songs to remember the most precious characteristics of the season, "The Gift of Love".

5th Grade Trip to La Tigra National Park
Fifth graders started the morning of the trip with much excitement. The trip to La Tigra was long and they were anxious to begin their new learning experience. Once we arrived, the different guides were assigned to each group and the journey up began. After a few minutes of climbing up the mountain many students and teachers felt like giving up. However, all helped each other and together we reached the end of the trail. Students picked up samples and learned about this beautiful protected area that is so important to us all.
Copan Trip
DelCampo International School fifth grade social studies students visit Copan annually to discover the fascinating history and art of one of the world's most renowned ruins. They visit the main ruins and Sculpture Museum where chiefs, scribes, and geologists lived. Students have access to the most recent archeological, sociological, and anthropological information about Mayan culture. Lectures are arranged and delivered by experts in the fields of Archeology, Anthropology, Honduran Ethnic groups, and social themes of Honduras.

Teachers, mothers, and students plan it and make it happen, fathers take time from their hectic agenda to come to school and enjoy quality time with their children as a way of expressing how much they love their kids.

Examples of student trips include the Tegucigalpa Iguana´s Den, El Museo de Identidad Nacional, Plant Nurseries, and the Chiminique Children´s Museum. The Mother's Day celebration is a chance for students, teachers and all school community members to treat dear mothers like queens, with a royal buffet of emotions and stage performances prepared by their own children. In school Mother's Day is celebrated with a exquisite grand family feast!
